Young Musicians Charity Concert
– in aid of CLIC Sargent
Pupils from Forefield Junior School along with other young musicians from Crosby and the surrounding areas, have recently taken part in a ‘Sponsored Practice-a-thon’ to raise money for CLIC Sargent - the UK’s largest children’s cancer charity. At this special concert the children will share the results of their hard work.
Last year, we managed to raise an incredible £1800 for CLIC Sargent through sponsorship and generous donations from the people of Crosby. This meant a great deal to all those involved, especially the family of Mark Cheminais who made a special appearance on the main stage along with his dad. At the age of 2 ½, Mark was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Now approaching his 7th birthday, he has recently been given the all-clear. Mark’s family cannot over-emphasise the support they received from CLIC Sargent throughout the whole time that Mark was ill. You can read Mark’s story on the Crosby Herald website (although they refer to CLIC Sargent as CHICS – such quality journalism!).
Every day, 10 families are told the devastating news that their child has cancer. CLIC Sargent is the only charity offering them care and support, every step of the way. To find out more about this fantastic charity, visit their website. You can also read an article about our 2008 event.
Collections will be held at the festival, so please keep an eye open for our collecting tins and GIVE GENEROUSLY.
Thank you
